Get Ready For The Kansas State Fair

It’s that time of year again! From September 9th to the 18th, enjoy attractions, entertainment and, of course, the best fair food around during the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. We know many of you are seasoned veterans when it comes to fair-going, but for the newbies (and maybe a few refreshers), we wanted to give you a little guide on everything you need to know when heading to the fair this year.

    How to get there?

The fair is located in Hutchinson, KS at 2000 N Poplar Street. To find directions on how to get there from where you live, enter your zip code here. Once you arrive, you can find free public parking in lots A, B or C. You can enter at any of the eleven gates around the fairground starting at 6am until 9pm. For more information on where you need to go, please visit the Fairgrounds Map

    What to do?

All 12 days and nights are packed full of attractions, entertainment and events. Start your morning off with a miniature Donkey Show or 4-H demonstrations.  If you are wanting to get out of the sun for a bit, get in touch with your creative side and take your kids to the Do Art Building, located at the corner of Lake Talbott Ave and Bison Blvd. This program is free to the public and supplies you with everything you need to complete your project. This year’s theme is “Rockets”.

After you work up an appetite, head over to the food stands for some deliciously-fried food that is most likely served on a stick. There is only one chance a year to get yourself a Pronto Pup (which continues to be the most popular item year-after-year) or fried cheesecake, so you better take advantage!

After you fill yourself up with fair food and ride all of the rides you can handle, catch a concert at the Nex-Tech Wireless Grandstand. Headliners this year include Andy Grammer (Sept. 9), Lynyrd Skynyrd (Sept. 16), Jake Owen (Sept. 17) and many more! Click here for more information on this year’s lineup and to purchase tickets.
