    Best Holiday Lights Displays in Kansas

    It’s amazing how many people get in the Holiday spirit this time of year. The Christmas music, the ugly sweaters, and the parties are in abundance; but my favorite are the Christmas light displays that light up the town.  From people’s house light displays to city square’s and business displays, there’s no question it’s on top of many people’s lists of the best part of the season.  If you’re looking for the best holiday lights displays in Kansas, we’ve got a list of the some of the best.

    1. Merriam, KS- Steve Pearson home display. The home of Steve Pearson boasts over 15,000 lights and has won the Merriam Festival of Lights three times.  His hard work shows in his magnificent displays.  Location: 9900 Johnson Drive, Merriam, KS.
    2. Kansas City, KS- Deckard Family Display. The lights put up by the Deckard Family has grown this year offering a more impressive display than before with more square footage to cover. Their light displays are magical, as they should be since they started putting up lights in September. Location: 2309 South 49th Street, Kansas City, KS.
    3. Prairie Village, KS- Candy Cane Lane as its better known as, has been boasting beautiful displays for almost 60 years. It’s one of the most popular displays in Kansas City. Location: 7900 block of Outlook Lane, Prairie Village, KS.
    4. Plaza Lights at Country Club Plaza- This Spanish inspired shopping district in the heart of the city is a popular destination for light gazers.  The lights span over 15 blocks of all businesses in the area and there are even helicopter tours so you can take in the spectacular view from the sky.
    5. The Mayor’s Christmas Tree at Crown Center- One of the tallest decorated trees in the country, including the tree at Rockefeller center. Standing over 100 feet tall and boasting 7200 lights, the Mayor’s Christmas Tree is a must see.
    6. Christmas City of the High Plains- Wakeeney, KS- The City of the High Plains Christmas lights display has been lighting up the town since 1950.  One of the most visited holiday lights displays, there are four blocks of lighted buildings, houses, trees and so on for the town’s enjoyment.
    7. Paulilne’s Penguin Playground in Olathe- This lighted display in Olathe is one put on for a good cause. Not only do they have a wonderful light display but they use the display to raise funds for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
    8. Illuminations at Botanica- 701 Amidon Ave in Wichita. Come walk around the garden of the botanical center and take in the over 5,000 luminaries, 120 decorated trees and more that span across the 17 acres of ground the gardens inhabit.  Enjoys the sights and the smells at this holiday light display.

    There’s only a few weeks left in the season so get out and enjoy these wonderful displays while you still can!
